The foundation of Lukas and Brit’s relationship is the waters of Lake Huron. Whether they’re fishing alone or helping his nieces reel in their next big catch, this lake is home to years of memories created by the two. 

It’s only fitting that this is where Lukas and Brit’s next chapter begins. 

Meet Lukas & Brit

Their first date was on Lukas’ family’s farmland on Manitoulin Island five and a half years ago. Since that day, Lukas and Brit have shared many adventures on the water and off. 

Lukas has been a Legend Boats Brand Ambassador since 2020. Never afraid of adversity, he regularly fishes the waters of Lake Huron with his Legend Boats 14 ProSport LS. If he’s not fishing alone, he has his favourite fishing partner, Brit, on board. 

Regardless of who’s netting and who’s reeling, Lukas and Brit work together like a well-oiled machine. You would be hard-pressed to find another fishing duo who works this well together. 

 

The Plan

Brit always joins Lukas on the big water, sharing their love for that fish-on feeling. Plus, what’s a relationship without a bit of friendly competition? Always trying to out-fish each other, there’s nowhere they’d rather spend their free time. 

Lukas figured that because of their shared love for the waters of Lake Huron, there would be no better place to ask Brit to spend the rest of their lives together. 

“I just couldn’t imagine living my life without her and she’s my soulmate, my best friend, and she’s soon going to be my wife.

Hopefully we catch a little bit of bonus fish, but we’re definitely going to land the catch of my life, and make a Legend Boat memory that’s never going to be forgotten.” 

 

The Diversion

To help Lukas surprise Brit, we told her that we were coming out to film a video about couples with shared interests. Brit shared with us how much she loves fishing, and how much Lukas has taught her along the way. While Brit has always loved spending time on the water, Lukas has helped her nurture that passion even more. 

 

“My dad always used to bring me fishing and then when I met Luke 5 and a half years ago, he just sparked the interest more, built up my courage, everything. 

 

“What fishing means to me is family, because I get to enjoy it not only with my boyfriend but when his nieces come up, I get to see them catching their first fish or the excitement on their faces. It’s about making memories from 5 years ago, to being able to catch 30lb salmon today.”

 

It’s clear that as their love for each other grows, so does their shared love of being together on the water. The two value family and time spent with those closest to them, on the water and off. 

The Proposal 

Lukas and Brit ventured out to Lake Huron on September 20th – Brit, with the goal of beating her previous best catch – a salmon from the day before; and Lukas, with the goal of making the catch of a lifetime. 

The calm waters in the bay of Lake Huron and the beautiful blue and pink hues in the sky made for the perfect evening on the water. With salmon leaping out of the water, Brit was eager to get out and start reeling some in. Little did she know, the salmon that they would catch later in the night would only pale in comparison to the surprise Lukas had in store for her. 

As the sun began to set, Lukas reached for the ring box in his pocket, got on one knee, and asked Brit to spend the rest of her life with him. 

Brit’s surprise and happiness were evident.

“Are you serious? Of course!”

After taking their time to celebrate together and soak in this special moment, it was back to business for Lukas and Brit, still determined to reel in at least one salmon.

Finally, it was time to head back to the farm and soak up everything that had happened that day.

This truly is a memory that they’ll never forget.
