About Legend Boats

Legend 1989Duhamel & Dewar began in 1968 as a tire dealership in Sudbury, Ontario by partners Victor Duhamel and Carl Dewar. They opened a separate location in Whitefish, Ontario (20 minutes Southwest of Sudbury) in the 1970’s, which has since expanded to occupy 25 acres along the Vermillion River.

After enjoying many years of success in the sale of RVs, Duhamel & Dewar created the Legend Boat line in 1985, which eventually became the business’ main focus. The business was allowed to blossom with its unique location on Vermillion River, where customers were given the opportunity to test drive their boat of choice.

Legend Boats takes pride in being a homegrown, Canadian brand. Boats are manufactured at its head office in Whitefish, and then distributed to over 50 boat dealers across Canada. Designed by Canadians and built for Canadians, the Legend brand has come to be recognized and respected for offering superior quality, features, and service to the Canadian market.

Our 2012 line will have nearly 40 models of aluminum and pontoon boats to choose from, with boats ranging from 12–25 feet in length to support a multitude of different activities on the water. Legend Boats continues to produce reliable and innovative products, and expects to have another strong year as it continues to outpace the industry’s growth.

"We've been growing steadily every year since we started", said Jamie Dewar, one of the company’s general managers. With over 70 employees between its Whitefish and Barrie locations, and an ever-increasing network of dealers across Canada, Legend Boats continues to focus on expanding its resources and reach across the market to better meet the needs of Canadian boaters.
